The Crazy Dish Lady!
Anyone who knows me, knows that I have an extreme dish fetish lol. Dishes to me, are what shoes are to most other women. I find it hard to restrain myself when I see an interesting shape, a fun colour or my biggest weakness, a dish with a textured surface. Oh how I swoon!
The right dish can make your food look amazing and let's face it, we eat with our eyes first, So, I have a pretty easy time convincing myself that another dish is a justifiable expense. What can I say...It's a sickness!!!
My love of dishes runs so deep that I was trying desperately to find a way to fit a dish room into my kitchen renovation!!! I couldn't manage it without affecting my work flow so I had to settle with a dish cabinet. Truthfully, I had both the dishes and the cabinet prior to renovating and was hoping to find space in a separate dish room. It really is a sickness! With a separate dish room not in the cards... I ended up designing my entire kitchen around this coveted cabinet which houses my treasured dishes. How CRAZY is that lol!
One of the big jokes in our family is that I love my dishes so much, I feel the need to lock them up...my cabinet has skeleton keys. I find unique and interesting dishes virtually everywhere I go and in varying price ranges. One of my favourite places to find dish-ware is at Dollarama. In fact, many of the white dishes you see in my posts are from the dollar store if you can believe it! Another one of my favourite places to find interesting pieces that make my heart go pitter-patter, is in thrift stores. I often find gorgeous, one off pieces, that nicely compliment the streamlined more modern dishes that I buy new.
The key to my heart is can be found in a beautifully crafted piece of ceramic... especially if comes from Portugal.
